Incredible Life Experience with an Incredible Guide and Driver
![]() There’s so much to say about this trip and our guide and driver who made it amazing for us. The culture and the sites are incredible to witness. From Lhasa to Shigatse to Everest Basecamp to Qirong Border, our guide (Dechen) gave us the most amazing tour and was incredibly knowledgeable about all the sites along the way. She made sure we felt welcome and were comfortable the entire time (from picking us up at the airport with traditional scarves, having heavy blankets ready to keep us warm, prayer flags for us to experience local culture, and oxygen bottles for us when the altitude got to us). Such an incredible experience, made even better by our guide Dechen and our amazing driver who got us around safely and comfortably. How he could navigate hundreds of switchbacks without making us carsick is a true testament to his driving skills. We felt very safe with him at the wheel. Thank you both! more

Wonderous experience to close 2024
![]() We are a family of 4 with two kids with allergy. This was our third time travelling with China Highlights. So Leon, our planning guide, knows very well what our requirements and likings are. All the planning was as smooth as they can be. Our local Lhasa guide was Khamsang who has excellent knowledge in all things Tibet, from nomad's life style, city life, religion, food and many more. This was children's first time on high altitude trip and as had expected one of them got quite sick. Khamsang, a mother herself, was very quick to take us to the pharmacy and received proper care in time. Although winter isn't peak travelling season of Lhasa because of it's temperature, we enjoyed this extraordinary trip because of both Leon and Khamsang. Highly recommend! more

Amazing Tibet, December 2024
![]() My wife and I had a fantastic tour of Tibet with Pasang of China Highlights. He was very detailed and thorough with his explanations as we visited the various significant sites like Potala palace and Jokhang Temple. His passion to share about his home region of Tibet is clear through his enthusiasm. He also showed us a slice of local life as we visited many local restaurants and tea houses. A highlight of our trip was our journey to Yamdrok lake, the Himalayas and Everest base camp. He was very knowledgeable of the best view points. Pasang and our driver even accommodated our request to shoot some astrophotography at night near Everest even though it was not originally planned. He was also very caring and checks in on us regularly for symptoms of altitude sickness. Overall the tour was very enjoyable and we would highly recommend Pasang to any friends or family who wish to travel to Tibet! more

Itinerary Quick Look
Here is a suggested itinerary. We are happy to customize a tour according to your interests.
Meet your personal guide at the airport. You will be transferred to your hotel by private car. Enjoy your free time to explore Guiyang city.
On day 2, you will drive about 2½ hours from Guiyang to Kaili. On the way, you will visit Gaoyao village to enjoy the great views of the terraced fields. Stop at Shiqiao village to learn about and try their traditional way of making paper.
Finally, you will visit Qingman Miao Village, known for its dustpan-like shape. Stroll along its bluestone path, allowing you to have a closer look at the daily lives of its ethnic minority people.
The village you are going to visit in the morning is quite a special one. People there dress differently. Female villagers used to belong to the local army, so some of their costumes are still like army uniform. They are famous for ancient batik craftwork.
You will have a chance to step into their dye house and to see how to make a fine batik. Participate in the process.
Visit two Miao villages in the afternoon to appreciate their unique wooden residential houses, splendid costumes, happy dancing and singing, and hospitable folk customs.
Drive from Kaili to Zhenyuan to find a timeless ancient town. Have a cruise on Wuyang River to enjoy a picturesque view of lovely gorges. Feel the breeze on deck, and see exotic peaks changing shape, as the cruise ripples through the dazzling green water.
Then transfer to the ancient town of Zhenyuan. Straddling both sides of a horseshoe-shaped river.
On the other side of the river, there is a vertical complex of temples, grottoes, and caves dedicated to the three faiths of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. Climb up and enjoy bird's-eye views of the cozy town.
Drive from Zhenyuan to Mt. Fanjing.
Mount Fanjing became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018, and got its name from a term in Chinese meaning 'Buddhist Brahma's Sacred Land'. It is a significant pilgrimage site in China for Buddhist worshippers from all around the world.
The mountain is home to an array of wildlife. Prepare to be amazed by the wonder of nature while you are hiking. If you are lucky enough, you may meet some rare animals.
After exploring Mt. Fanjing, transfer to the hot spring resort in Shiqian, which dates back over 400 years. It is time to relax in a hot spring after climbing the mountain.
One of the oldest springs in China, in a National 4A Scenic Area, the mineral water there has been declared drinkable, unlike most other hot springs, so it is exceptionally good for bathing!
Your guide and driver will escort you to the airport in Guiyang for your departure.
